My HUD disappeared off my screen!
If you can hear your TE HUD, or your inventory says it is attached but you can't see it, this may help you get it back.
--Find or attach another HUD, right click it and go into edit mode. Scroll out with your mouse-a yellow or white box will appear on your screen. What you can see inside this box is what fills your monitor screen. You should see your TE HUD outside that box (the default TE position is the top left, if you have not set it otherwise.
--Right-click the TE HUD and Edit, use the arrows to drag the TE HUD inside the box. it so it moves into the box. When you release the mouse, the HUD should automatically be placed, hit ESC and it should be within your view.
Sometimes detaching the original and wearing the copy brings the HUD back into position automatically.
It has been suggested that you can also take a copy of your HUD (detach, right click in your inventory, select copy, then paste and wear the new one).
If you still cannot see your HUD, you may need to get a free replacement HUD from the Upgrade Station.
Why isn't my hud working?
Make sure you are in an area that allows scripts to run.
A sim experiencing a lot of lag can interefere with the HUD as well.
Try teleporting to a new location that you know allows scripts. Detach and reattach.
If you still cannot see your HUD, you may need to get a free replacement HUD from the Upgrade Station.
How do I get more subjects?
It is not your liege's job to get you subjects or move people under you...it's your own.
Anyone you meet is a potential TE player! The more excited you are about it, the more people will pick up on that excitement, and want to know what it's about.
Pass out the trial HUD. We dont' recommend slapping it on everyone you see, but friends and family are good places to start!
My liege isn't on often, who can help me?
If you have questions, the best place to ask is in the group chat. Check the pages here on the website for the information as well.
If you need more personal help with an issue that cannot be resolved though those methods, check the Contact page.
How soon can I get my title?
A title, also known as a bestowal (and officially known as the Queen's Favour), is more than just a cool name. It's a year long celebration of your accomplishments in Tiny Empires.
In Tiny Empires, bestowals can be bestowed on anyone of any rank. However, because of the cost and the great benefits of getting a bestowal, in Tintagel your bestowal must be earned, and will take place once you reach the rank of Prince or Princess.
The year of good fortune affects you and your direct subjects...purchased land will likely contain surprises, you may even get the buy low and/or sell high option over the course of the year. The person receiving the bestowal will often get four or five of these, while your direct online subjects will receive two or three. If you have the Fed HUD, negative events (disasters) will be taken care of your behalf (as it is during a Festival). You will also be granted 5 free acres from Emperor Soleil, who will pass them to you through the Queen.
You can choose your own title (must be 20 characters...spaces included...or less). Titles must be PG, must not insult or criticize any kingdom or player. It costs the Queen/Vicreroys upwards of 20 million gold, so make sure it is a title you want to keep!
note: If you leave the kingdom, you will lose your title, though it has been said that if you return within 100 'years' (turns) you will still be able to keep it.
Can I use alts in TE?
The use of alts is accepted in Tiny Empires, and often used. You can pass the trial HUD to your alts and then purchase the HUDS for them.
How can I use my alt to benefit me in Tiny Empires?
With an alt TE, you can use them in several ways:
- Alts can be used to take in new citizens by always keeping an alt who only has 5-10 acres.
- Alts can be used to fix line breaks and boost players so you can merge lines or repair them
- Offer your alts as part of a deal when bribing someone into the kingdom. Have your new subject liege to you, then you place your alt at the bottom of their line. This boosts all the players in their line, and gives them an advantage.
- If a subject in your line is struggling with the game, you can move your alt to this subject so they can have someone under them earning acres and earning them extra gold.
If the alt is to help your subjects, you must try to continue playing them as best as possible in order to keep the growth in your line and not create "dead players" under your subjects.
What can I do when my subjects stop playing?
You will at some point or another find yourself with subjects who, for their own reasons, give up on playing Tiny Empires. Unless they actively move away from your line by lieging to someone else, they will stay in your line, as long as they are playing on the Full or Fed HUD. But just because they stop plyaing doesn't mean THEIR subjects stop! Make sure you work with those people in your downline and have a good rapport with them. They are turnign to you for help now.
I checked the Standings Page, and some of my subjects disappeared!
Your subjects either switched to a different liege or were still playing on the trial HUD. Players who don't progress to the Full HUD after a long period are automatically removed, and must start all over.
I can't afford to upgrade my HUD. What do I do?
Talk to your liege. Sometimes assistance is available to help those that can't afford them.
Asking for assistance in purchasing a Full HUD for an alt is considered very poor taste, and is frowned upon.
Should I accept bribes to join someone? Should I bribe someone to join my line?
Accepting a bribe to join another line means you will be moving away from your liege and likely joining another kingdom. If you wish to do this, please IM your liege and let them know you will be leaving. You will be paying them a small amount of gold to leave the line. Note that if you are leaving to accept the amount of gold being offered you and you intend to return, you will have to pay THAT liege when you leave them. When you turn down a bribe, that information appears on your liege's HUD, and they are given the opportunity to reward you for your loyalty. This amount is usually more handsome than the amount of the bribe.
Bribing someone to join your line is your choice. It helps to IM them personally, offering a greeting, an introduction of yourself, and letting them know that you are offering a bribe.
I bribed someone to me, but they left. Why?
Some players Kingdom-hop, following bribes for the money. In our experience, players that are easily bribed are 4-5x harder to earn loyalty from.
What if I have a friend in another kingdom that wants me to move to them?
We would hope that you are happy here in Tintagel, but we also know that friendships are strong. We ask that you please give your liege notice to let them know that you are leaving. Be aware that any players below you that wish to stay in Tintagel will likely leave your line and return. We wish you the very best in TE and in SL!
I am not happy with my liege, but I don't want to leave Tintagel. What are my options?
Choosing a liege, and a kingdom, are probably two of the most important things you need to do in Tiny Empires, yet very few people attach any importance to this.
The first step is to speak to the Direct subject of the Queen that is your upline. You can find that person by checking the Standings Page. They will be able to help you find a liege within the Kingdom that is a good fit for you.
If you are looking for a particular kind of liege (such as someone who shares your interests), discuss this with the Direct. The liege should have at least some things in common with you, and there shouldn't be any major areas of disagreement.
Also, check-out timezones. If you are on SL time, a liege in Europe might not be a good idea, unless they keep unconventional hours. Similarly, if you are online a lot, you need a liege who is also online a lot, otherwise they won't be there to pay you rewards or help you out with land and advice.
Is it okay to sabotage?
Choosing to sabotage another player is a personal matter, though the Queen and Grand Vicereine do not condone sabotage, for a variety of reasons.
Most often, the names of potential targets that appear on your HUD are players close to an advancement in rank. Sabotage is designed to slow down another player's advancement; in Tintagel we prefer to be helpful to Tiny Empires players, of every kingdom and every rank, and watching someone lose acres and postpone their ranking up is harmful, rather than helpful.
Sabotage is costly; rarely is the amount of damage done to the target even remotely close to the amount you pay to have the acres sabotaged (the amount of acres lost in sabotage by the target depends on the quality of the housing/castle/keep).
There is also the risk of being found out and ordered to replay the acres, so you lose both gold AND acres yourself.
There are a few Kingdoms that we have a no-sabotage agreement with, so it is a good idea to find the name of the player you select on the Standings page to see what kingdom they are in.
I want to make my friend my subject, but their HUD says I am too high in rank. What do I do?
You can only accept players within three ranks of you. If you are too high for them to request allegiance to you, you can find another subject of yours to have them liege to, or ask in the group chat. Usually there is someone on that is low enough to help you out by taking them on until they are high enough in rank to move to your line.
What happens if I outrank my liege?
You cannot outrank your liege. Your total acres are counted in with theirs, so they will always be above you, unless you move out from under them.
What is a Viceroy/Vicereine?
Viceroys have some of the powers of the Queen, but they can only affect their direct downlines. Currently, a Viceroy can assign custom titles and purchase tracts of land to distribute to their downlines.
In addition, each monarch can appoint one person to be the kingdom's Grand Viceroy/Vicereine. A Grand Viceroy can affect the entire kingdom. They will be able to assign titles throughout the entire kingdom, and purchase a tract of land for all. Grand Viceroys may have other abilities as well.
